Well bless you, Canada! Keeping each other warm, one hand-holding at a time! This is lovely!

Need a new reason to love your body, no matter what? Here’s one: It makes an excellent extension cord. Comprised of more than 50% water by weight, it conducts electricity really well. In most real-world situations, that would be totally useless — and potentially deadly, should you get struck by lightening — but now you can use your innate ability to activate battery-powered heaters in an outdoor bus shelter in Montreal.

Here’s how it works: When two or more people step into the shelter, hold hands and press the palm of their free hand against sensors on the walls, an electrical circuit is completed and four ceiling vents release hot air into the glass-enclosed space. According to Canadian Night Life, which first reported on the Duracell-sponsored novelty last December, the heat continues for a few minutes even after you stop holding a stranger’s hand, giving you ample time to whip…

  1. What a lovely idea! I believe Duracell should erect more of these shelters. They will transform a bleak day into a warm, good-feeling day for all who enter. We can only suppose what a positive effect this will have on so many. Thanks for bringing this brilliant idea to us all who follow you.

Awh, bless! Isn’t that a great idea? I love the video showing these folks holding hands to heat up the bus shelter. Wouldn’t it be a love idea indeed to have more of them? Thank YOU!! Cher xo

  5. Incredible! What a wonderful find my friend. I love this! Imagine, utilizing our body’s electricity? Wow. And to touch another’s hand to activate it? Sound like a peace AND heat generating device in my opinion! 😉 Reminds me of a study done that even a flicker of a hand-touch elevates feelings, such as when paying or receiving change from a cashier, waiter, etc. Beautiful! Hugs to you Cher. xo Gina

Aw, well, that is cute, but I have to admit I’d be too shy in the situation to actually use it.

    1. seaangel4444 says:

Well Joseph, I am most certain a lovely person would simply take your hand and then you could just enjoy the bus shelter’s warmth! Hugs, Cher xo
