A CANADIAN EXPAT'S EXPERIENCES AND OBSERVATIONS LIVING IN THE WINDY CITY!

New Mexico Oct 2015

I recall traveling through New Mexico just before sunset.  It was the most incredible scene, as the sun shone its end of day muted orange beams onto orange rock.  I can only try to describe what it felt like to see this natural beauty.  It reminded me of a spotlight on a stage, amplifying the already wonderful scene with extra dimension from the rays.

I think the train must have been moving slower in this area, as this photo seems to have turned out clearer than a number of my photos.  🙂

  1. A friend of mine said she doesn’t like New Mexico because it is so lacking in color. I could not disagree more. In fact, I wonder what she was looking at. 😀

      1. Ha ha ha.I did. I forgot to mention orange is my favorite color so the picture was a welcome a color dream to the eyes of the soul. Now I’ll go purge with a gin and tonig with a twist of lime. Kidding I don’t drink. I would be hungover on one drink or at least feel it for a couple of days lol

      3. LOL and orange is a great color indeed. I buy so many pumpkins at Halloween it is crazy. It is the orange crazy. Now I buy less because there are only me to carve. I have to take out those pumpkin pictures from the past. That would be a hoot.

      5. That is an idea. I had a white pumpkin one year. He looked creepy. Everyone said it wasn’t a real pumpkin. I usually don’t do this but I think you will enjoy one of my post I did for Halloween.

  7. Cher, it’s a gorgeous scene. You are right – the train must have been moving slowly if you got that clear a shot. Here’s a hint I discovered when I was traveling many years ago: Set your camera to “action” setting. It doesn’t matter then, if you are moving or your subject is moving. You’ll be able to get the best photo. I got some really good shots through the window while the bus we were on was moving!

Oh does it, Helen? I’ve been to Australia, but I was only on the Gold Coast and didn’t see red earth! How could I go all the way to Australia and not see it? *LOL* Cher xo

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Helen Jones says:

LOL That’s okay, Cher – I lived there for seventeen years and didn’t make it to see loads of places! The Gold Coast is very nice, I’m not surprised you were happy to stay there. You do get the reddish earth down south in some areas, though the desert is where it really glows.

      2. seaangel4444 says:

I would love to see it, Helen! Yes, the Gold Coast is very nice, but it would have been awesome to see the ‘glowing desert’! Wow! I would love to go back to Australia!! Cher xo

      7. Helen Jones says:

You did! It’s very tempting to stick in the ‘u’, that’s for sure. The best flight I think I had from Australia was with Emirates, their planes are so new and a good entertainment system too 🙂

      8. seaangel4444 says:

It is, isn’t it? *LOL* Ah, I’ve never flown that airline before. They’ve been showing a commercial here in the US with Jennifer Aniston aboard; apparently they have showers on their aircraft! My goodness!!

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Helen Jones says:

Yes, we have that commercial too – the showers are only for people up at the pointy end – poor old sardine class don’t get those amenities (although they did give out hot towels periodically, I remember) LOL. I think that’s on the A380 – I just flew on one of those coming back from San Francisco. They are so big you can’t figure out how they get off the ground!

      10. seaangel4444 says:

Oh I love that, “the pointy end”! That’s hilarious! I have a name for sardine class (which is also great!); I call it, “steerage class”! If you were getting a hot towel periodically, I can’t even imagine what the ‘pointy end people’ were getting; gold flaked cereal, perhaps? 😉

Oh, I’m sure – and champagne in crystal glasses (after their shower and foot rub) LOL One day, if I sell enough books, maybe I’ll get to experience it for myself…
