The Chicago Files

A CANADIAN EXPAT'S EXPERIENCES AND OBSERVATIONS LIVING IN THE WINDY CITY!

Several weeks ago, I started to think about the photos I share with you of Chicago and how I see this amazing city.  I was trying to think of an idea to show you the city from a different angle; you know, something that would give you an even greater understanding of what Chicago looks like to me!

I thought I’d take a unique perspective (literally!) and show you the phenomenal City of Chicago from the air!  I’ll soon be taking a helicopter ride with a company called,  “Chicago Helicopter Experience” to see the downtown area, including the John Hancock Building, Willis (Sears) Tower, and of course, Lake Michigan!

I’ll be writing a post with the best photos (and hopefully I’ll be able to stave off my excitement and actually take some)!

By the way, I’ve never been in a helicopter, but I’ve always wanted to give it a go; so, what better way to have that experience than to take to the skies over CHItown!

Please stay tuned for a flying high post about my Chicago sky adventures very soon!!

Since we basically see the world from the perspective of a mouse it is most stunning to take a view from above. May it be Chicago or any other place of this world. I did a helicopter ride some years ago and flew over my own house. It was touching!! I am looking forward to seeing your pictures from one of the coolest cities!

What a great way to say it, Erika! I love the way you mentioned our ‘mouse’ perspective! It is so true! Oh did you? That must have been a wonderful view! Ah, thanks so much! It is such a cool city, isn’t it? I once stood on my couch to see the perspective of the room in a different way. Sounds silly, perhaps. But I wanted to see if I would notice things in a different way. This will be a high flying perspective indeed! Cher xo

Wow, that is an amazing idea, standing on the couch in order to get a different perspective on what we think we know so well. That’s really awesome and a great analogy for life situations. I am sure you are often taking different perspectives both intentionally and naturally!

Why thank you, Erika! Oh yes, and at the time I felt quite silly about doing it; and yet, I did it anyway just to see how it would ‘feel’. It made me laugh at first because I thought, wait a minute, this is the same living room with the same furniture. But now it looks entirely different to me. It taught me that we must always stand back from a situation and realize there are so many ways of looking at it that we do ourselves (and others, quite frankly) a disservice if we don’t use that ‘other angle’ approach. I think I do; I am sure you do that as well!! Cher xo

It is an awesome insight and it is fantastic that you made that connecting link. It is really cool! I really try to see things from as many angles as possible and also try to be as open as possible to other people’s views. What an inspiring post Cher 😃

Ah, bless! You are much too kind, my dear! Thank you so much! I really wanted to share Chicago from a different perspective which I think is a good metaphor for seeing our world with fresh eyes if that makes sense! I’m going to try and do that as well, Erika! Cher xo

  11. What a great way to tour! My parents got me a surprise helicopter ride for my 21 birthday which they thought would be super exciting for me. It wasn’t, we just serenely flew over non descript moor land and the pilot calmly ignored all of my eager requests for swerving fast and spinning etc. but it was still lovely being in the air though. I’m sure your ride will be much more interesting as you are flying over the city you love. Looking forward to seeing your photo’s 👧🏻
