Very cool looking, must have been built in the sixties?

Hi John! I took this photo from the architectural boat tour! I leaned back and pointed!! Yes, the two “Corncob” Buildings were built in 1964: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marina_City Cher xo

Who lived in Flint, Michigan at that time which is my birth city… Be it a lost cause today…

Yeah. My folks lived there in the fifties, they say it was beautiful. Today, most of the city is a miniature Detroit, worthy of the bulldozer. A bit extreme a statement but I remember the city as a very young man and it bothers me what has happened. Occasionally, I wonder what it’d be like to move back to Michigan but the usual result is nah, It’s too beautiful in Las Vegas for so many reasons.

I’ve seen picture of Flint from years ago and what it looks like in the present. It’s such a shame. I understand what you mean, John. Las Vegas is your city but Michigan is your home! Cher xo

That’s what sometimes makes it difficult to want to move back up there. The climate is yucky, everything looks really dirty as compared to Vegas, including the cars, roads, houses… The now Ex wife even noticed this as she grew up in Anaheim, CA. Most of Las Vegas is beautifully groomed, including along and in the margins between road lanes, homes, businesses… The Wind Storms and smog are about the dirtiest thing here and it’s great that my truck stays clean for a week or more except for a very light layer of dust.

I’d say that is a glowing report to stay in Vegas, John!! As for the dirt, etc. I know exactly what you mean!!!

Thanks for the opinion Cher, I really do appreciate your comment. Oh, we have no bugs here except the stray tiny flies of some kind – leave the door open…

Well it sounds as if there are a lot more pluses for staying in Vegas (at least, for now). You are saving on snow shovels, bug spray, car washes, and gee, what else? *LOL*

Well hello there, dear Carol! It is so nice to see you! Why thank you! I looked rather silly almost bending over backwards on a moving boat! *LOL* Cher xo

Hi Cher, is this the building where you can see the car park up in the air? I remember coming to Chicago and seeing a similar building and couldn’t believe it was a multi-story car park. It looked as though one slip on the pedal and you would have driven off the edge!!

Hi Deb, oh yes, this is the place! There are two towers called, “Marina Towers”, or “Marina City”. They car park is only accessible via valet service. Each time a resident wants their car, a valet gets it for them. The valet ‘backs into’ the space where there are guard wires in place (so as not to do exactly what you mentioned!) *LOL* There have been movies filmed there where a car drives off the ledge and into the Chicago River below. Here is a post I wrote a few years ago about the buildings: http://wp.me/p4doQv-bq Thank you, Deb! Cher xo
